TankGol is out now on iPhone. On Android it’s in a closed test on Google Play, and the test group opens to everyone very soon. Here’s how joining will work.

How to join

  1. Join the test group

    Open our Google Group and tap Join group (the button may be in your language). Sign in with the same Google account you use in the Play Store: your profile picture at the top right of the Play Store shows which one.

    Do steps 1 and 2 in Chrome on your phone. Came here from Instagram, TikTok or Facebook? Open their menu (⋮ or ···) and choose Open in Chrome or Open in browser first.

    Google shows us the email address and name of each group member. We use them only to run the beta. Privacy Policy

  2. Become a tester

    Open the Google Play test page and tap Become a tester (the button may be in your language). No button? Check that the page shows the same Google account, then try again in a few minutes.

  3. Install TankGol

    Get TankGol from Google Play on your phone. During the beta it doesn’t show up in Play Store search, so use the Google Play link on this step.

  4. Stay for 14 days

    Keep TankGol installed and stay in the test for at least 14 days. Play whenever you like, and tell us what you find.

Which Google account should I use?

The one signed in to the Play Store on your Android phone (tap your profile picture in the Play Store to see it). Join the group, become a tester and install TankGol with that same account. If you use several accounts, check which one each page shows in its top corner.

Why 14 days?

Google asks new developers like us to run a closed test with at least 12 testers for 14 days in a row before a game can launch on Google Play. Testers count while they stay in the test, so please keep TankGol installed and stay in for at least 14 days. We’d love many more than 12.

Google Play can’t find TankGol

During the beta, TankGol doesn’t appear in Play Store search. Use the link in step 3 on your phone, signed in with your tester account. If Google Play says the app isn’t available, finish steps 1 and 2 first, and make sure both used the same Google account. It can take a few minutes after you join.

Will my progress carry over?

Yes. Beta accounts are regular TankGol accounts and are not reset when Android launches. Connect Google (or Apple) in Settings > Account to keep your progress if you change phones.

Are purchases in the beta real?

Yes. Diamond packs in the beta are real Google Play purchases, charged to your payment method with real money, and the diamonds stay on your account. Buying is optional. Refunds work as for any Google Play purchase (see Refunds).

How do I leave the beta?

Open the Google Play test page and choose to leave the program there. TankGol stays on your phone, but you no longer get beta updates. To leave the group too, open it on Google Groups and leave it in your membership settings: your email address and name are then no longer in our member list. Your TankGol account stays until you delete it in Settings > Account.

What does the test group share with you?

Google Groups shows us, as the group owner, the email address and name of the Google account each member joins with. We use them only to run the Android beta, and we delete the group after TankGol launches on Google Play. We don’t collect anything on this page ourselves. See our Privacy Policy.

I have an iPhone

No beta needed: TankGol is out now on the App Store.

How do I report a bug?

Email [email protected] with what happened, your Player ID (Settings > Account, top right) and your phone model, or tell us on Discord.
